Negotiations between Iran and the United States on the nuclear program in Muscat have ended, as a result of which the parties could agree to continue the diplomatic process. This was reported on February 6 by the Iranian Fars news agency.

"The Iranian-American nuclear talks, chaired by Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araqchi and Special Representative of the US President Stephen Witkoff, have ended in Muscat with the mediation of Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaid. The assessments indicate a possible mutual understanding regarding the continuation of the diplomatic process," the publication says.

Negotiations between Iran and the United States to resolve the crisis over Iran's nuclear program began in Muscat, Oman, earlier this day. The current contacts were the first after a long break in the dialogue, which lasted several months and was associated with the transition of the Iranian-Israeli confrontation to an open phase in June 2025.

The Axios portal reported on February 3 that Iran demanded that the talks be postponed from Turkey to Oman. In addition, it was stated that Iran intended to hold talks without the participation of observers from Arab countries.

Iran has previously indicated its readiness to make a deal with the United States by suspending or completely shutting down its nuclear program. It was noted that Tehran would prefer the proposal to create a regional consortium for the production of nuclear energy put forward by the United States last year.
