The State traffic Inspectorate will strengthen control over drivers in the regions over the weekend

On Friday and next weekend, February 6-8, traffic police officers will conduct massive and continuous checks on the roads of the country, special attention will be paid to the search for drunk drivers. The raids were announced by the regional departments of the State Traffic Inspectorate.

Raids on drunk motorists will take place in the Tver, Ryazan, Penza, Smolensk regions, the Republic of Bashkortostan and other regions of the country.

On the eve of the weekend, the State Traffic Inspectorate reminds drivers about the inadmissibility of driving while intoxicated. "Continuous" checks on Russian roads to identify drivers who have got behind the wheel after drinking alcohol are carried out on weekends by traffic inspectors on an ongoing basis, the department emphasizes.

"Driving under the influence of alcohol is a gross violation of traffic regulations. Drunk driving is unacceptable in itself, and in winter conditions it does not leave even a minimal chance of a successful trip. We kindly ask citizens to report the facts of driving vehicles by drivers in a state of intoxication, their inappropriate and dangerous behavior on the road, to the police. All necessary response measures will be taken immediately for all such requests. An indifferent attitude towards such violators can cost road users their lives," said Police Colonel Anton Belan, Deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child Traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
