An earthquake of magnitude 5.5 occurred in the Kamchatka Territory. No damage was recorded.

The tremors occurred on February 6 at 16:24 local time. According to the KamchatkaMedia news agency, the epicenter was located 94 km from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky in the waters of the Avacha Bay. It lay at a depth of 29.8 km.

No tsunami threat has been announced.

Scientists continue to monitor the aftershock sequence that accompanies the earthquake that occurred on July 30, 2025. Over the past week, the seismicity of the Kamchatka section of the subduction zone has decreased. Since January 30, 14 felt earthquakes have been recorded.
