- A number of cities in Transnistria are partially de-energized after a failure at the Moldavian GRES
A number of cities in the unrecognized Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (PMR) were partially de-energized after a failure at the Moldovan Hydroelectric Power Station (MGRES). This was reported on February 6 by the news agency "News of Pridnestrovie".
"Parts of Tiraspol, Bender, Slobodzeisky, Rybnitsky, Kamensky, Grigoriopol and Dubossary districts were temporarily de-energized due to an emergency activation of the protection on the boilers of Moldavskaya GRES," the agency wrote on its Telegram channel.
It is specified that the accident also affected the Hincesti and Kaushan districts of Moldova. As of 11:46 a.m. Moscow time, about 1,850 streets of the republic remained without electricity. The Ministry of Economic Development of Pridnestrovie noted that the power supply will be restored within an hour.
On January 31, Chisinau Mayor Ion Ceban announced that power outages had been recorded in Chisinau and some regions of Moldova on Saturday morning. According to him, this situation is recorded in most districts of the capital. According to the information of the state enterprise "Unified Distribution Electric Networks" in the Telegram channel, the accident at the Moldavskaya GRES in Transnistria led to power outages.
The Russian Embassy in Chisinau later denied information about the guilt of MGRES in the blackout. The embassy stressed that the station had been operating normally for 24 hours.
