169 road accidents have occurred in Russia over the past 24 hours.

Over the past day, 169 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 15 people were killed and 214 injured. All the victims were drivers and passengers. This was reported to Izvestia on February 6 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

As a result of 47 accidents, 26 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 21 outside their area of operation, 50 pedestrian road users were injured in various degrees of severity. There are no dead pedestrians. Among the injured were five underage pedestrians, three of whom were injured while crossing the roadway in designated areas.

14 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which there were no fatalities, but 17 road users needed medical help. Half of the bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by drivers of other vehicles. Seven accidents involving minors were also registered, in which eight young road users, including three passengers, were injured. There are no dead children.

In some regions of the country, temporary restrictions or traffic closures were introduced due to adverse weather conditions. For example, in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, due to the deterioration of the weather in Georgia, traffic on the federal highway A-161 Vladikavkaz -Nizhny Lars — border with the Republic of Georgia stopped for almost three days in the direction of departure from the Russian Federation. Currently, traffic has been restored. In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, traffic on the Norilsk—Norilsk Airport regional highway from 5 to 22 km was temporarily stopped from noon yesterday to this morning due to worsening weather conditions — snow, blizzard, gusty wind.

On the eve of the weekend, the State Traffic Inspectorate recommends that drivers and passengers, when planning long trips, always monitor the weather forecast, as well as media reports from traffic closures or restrictions, planning detours in advance. In case of temporary closure of road sections due to worsening weather conditions, the relevant information is promptly posted in the news blocks of the regional segments of the State Traffic Inspectorate website and on the official pages of the service units in social networks.

In case of a negative weather forecast, the State Traffic Inspectorate advises to refrain from traveling long distances until the road conditions improve, and in urban conditions to use public transport services.

"If you do set off, we would like to draw the attention of motorists to the fact that in winter you should be extremely careful when driving a car: refrain from sudden thoughtless maneuvers and lane changes, observe the interval and distance between vehicles, and choose the speed limit taking into account weather conditions," said the head of the Department of road safety Propaganda. traffic and prevention of children's road traffic injuries of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, Police Colonel Sergey Hrantskevich.

In conditions of insufficient visibility, it is necessary to move with external lighting devices turned on, it is mandatory to use fog lights (if any), and during precipitation, reduce speed as much as possible and move with the alarm lights on, the department added.
