The Union of Cinematographers will organize the funeral of Batalov's widow

The Union of Cinematographers, headed by director Nikita Mikhalkov, will organize the funeral of the widow of People's Artist of the USSR Alexei Batalov, Gitana Leontenko. This was announced on February 5 by Director of the Guild of Film Actors Valeria Gushchina.

"The Union of Cinematographers of Russia fully covered the costs of the burial of Gitana Arkadyevna Leontenko," Gushchina said in an interview with NEWS.ru .

At the same time, Batalov's daughter Maria, who suffers from cerebral palsy, is currently staying with her sister. The union and the guild also expressed concern about her future.

It is noted that the funeral will take place on February 6.

Vladimir Ivanov, a family friend, told about Leontenko's death at the age of 91 the day before. Ivanov added that she died last week. Since 1944, Leontenko began performing in a gypsy circus group with plastic sketches, and since 1950 — as a dancer on a horse.

Since 1967, Leontenko began performing in circus programs and pantomimes. In addition, the actress also performed roles in films, including roles in "Arena of the Brave", "Equestrian Circus" and "Emergency Assignment".
