In the Murmansk region, practical exercises on fire and tactical training with units of the separate Guards brigade of the Northern Fleet Marines were held at a military training ground near the village of Sputnik. This was announced on February 6 by the press service of the Northern Fleet.

It is specified that the Marines practiced group interaction, maneuvering on rough terrain and shooting accuracy. They also had to fire continuously in a static position and in motion.

The Marines also mastered shooting with RPG-7 hand—held anti-tank grenade launchers, heavy machine guns and submachine guns - the soldiers used weapons to hit targets imitating objects of an imaginary enemy. One of the tasks of the infantrymen was to repel an attack by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) at a distance of 200-300 m from a submachine gun and a machine gun.

It is noted that combat training took place in conditions similar to the Arctic — at extremely low temperatures. According to a sailor with the call sign Troyan, a guardsman, the training took place at a temperature of -30 degrees. They practiced strikes on targets at a distance of 50-100 m, as well as on simulated drones.

The Marines were trained by experienced officers participating in a special military operation (SVO).

Maxim Efanov, a fighter of the 810th Separate Guards Marine Brigade, reported on February 4 that in the summer of 2024, Russian military personnel were able to defeat the AFU brigade marching to the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant in less than 25 minutes. The facilities were eliminated with the help of domestic armored personnel carriers of the BTR-82 model, the crew of which was subsequently awarded a state award.
