The State Duma intends to impose penalties for violating the "week of silence" before the abortion

The State Duma may impose liability before the law for violating the "week of silence" before an abortion. This statement was made on February 6 by the first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Family Protection, Fatherhood, Motherhood and Childhood, Tatyana Butskaya.

"I think we should look towards those [medical] clinics that do not comply with the letter of the law, where the "week of silence" is prescribed. Any non—compliance with the law, of course, must have its responsibility," Butskaya said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to the parliamentarian, it is important to ensure the enforcement of laws in this area, including in private clinics.
