- The head of WADA pointed out the discomfort due to Tutberidze's presence at the Olympics
President of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Witold Banka noted on February 5 that he was not very comfortable in the Olympic Village in Italy due to the presence of Russian figure skating coach Eteri Tutberidze.
The mood of the head of WADA is connected with the case of Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva, who was disqualified by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in January 2024 for violating anti-doping rules. At that time, Tutberidze was the athlete's coach.
"There is no evidence that this particular person (Tutberidze. — ed.) participated in the doping process, so there is no legal basis for her exclusion. She was seen here. Since you're asking about my feelings, I definitely don't feel comfortable with her presence at the Olympic Games," Banka told reporters.
