The Ministry of Health has approved nine outpatient treatment regimens for COVID-19
The Russian Ministry of Health has approved nine treatment options for coronavirus infection for patients undergoing outpatient treatment. This was confirmed on February 5 by data from the department's clinical recommendations for the treatment of COVID-19.
According to the document reviewed by TASS, patients with mild and moderate course of the disease, including those who are at increased risk of complications, are recommended to be prescribed direct-acting antiviral drugs. It clarifies that treatment should begin in the first seven days of illness or upon confirmation of COVID-19.
The recommendations also state that approved treatment regimens involve various combinations of antiviral agents and drugs for symptomatic therapy. The Ministry of Health added that a doctor chooses a specific treatment regimen.
The head of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, said in late December that Russia was ready for possible epidemiological threats that could be more dangerous than COVID-19. According to her, Russia has undergone significant training during the COVID-19 pandemic, so in the event of the next epidemic, less stringent measures will be applied with greater effectiveness.
