- An Argentine judge has ordered a request to be sent to the United States for Maduro's extradition.
An Argentine judge has sent a request to the United States for the extradition of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro to testify in a human rights case. This was reported on February 4 by the Infobae portal.
"Federal Judge Sebastian Ramos has signed an official request for the extradition of dictator Nicolas Maduro from the United States in order to bring him to Argentina for interrogation," the statement said.
It is reported that the Argentine side intends to seek his extradition to participate in the trial.
Russian Ambassador to Caracas Sergey Melik-Baghdasarov said on January 25 that Maduro, abducted by the US Armed Forces, could have become a victim of betrayal by some of the republic's security forces. According to him, individuals systematically cooperated with the American special services, adding that we are talking about specific people who left the territory of Venezuela.
On January 25, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov announced that Russia was maintaining its previous position regarding the US actions to detain Maduro. He added that from the first hours after the information about the incident appeared, Moscow raised the issue of the need to release the Venezuelan leader.
Prior to that, on January 13, American leader Donald Trump, commenting on a large-scale strike on Venezuela, called this operation, during which Maduro and his wife were captured on January 3, "the most impeccable" and "brilliant."
