Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on February 4 that he did not particularly believe in the existence of a "deep state" that could influence the fate of the world.

"What they call the 'deep state,' what they call hidden foundations, closed groups, and attribute to them the ability to determine the fate of the world, I don't really believe in it," Lavrov said in an interview with RT.

During the interview, Sergey Lavrov noted that the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine would mark the end of the political career of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Zelensky announced on January 30 that he refuses to withdraw troops from Donbass for the sake of peace in Ukraine. He noted that he would not give up Donbass and the Zaporizhia NPP without a fight.

Last December, Russian President Vladimir Putin also announced that the Russian Federation would liberate Donbass and Novorossiya in any case, by military means or otherwise. He noted that Russia offered Ukraine to withdraw troops from Donbass and not to start military operations, but Kiev chose to fight.
