Analysts have noticed that interest in mortgages is traditionally low in January, due to the long New Year holidays and a slowdown in business activity.

However, in January of this year, the volume of mortgage loans is almost five times higher than in January 2025. In addition, this is the highest figure for the beginning of the year over the past five years: for example, in January 2022, about 180 billion mortgages were issued, and in 2024 — almost 150 billion rubles.

According to analysts, the main demand fell on Family mortgages — more than 240 billion rubles, which is 77.5% of the total amount of loans. "In anticipation of the introduction of restrictions on this program, the Russians, who did not have time to make a deal last year, rushed to use this opportunity," the experts explained.
