The premiere of the documentary "Lomonosov" will take place on REN TV on February 8.

On February 8, REN TV will premiere a new documentary film "Lomonosov" from the NMG DOC series "The GREAT ONES".

He was considered a rowdy, and he defended Russian science with his fists. He called himself the successor of Peter the Great, but swore allegiance to the European king. They wanted to anathematize him, but they buried him next to the tsars on church land. He laid out a route through the Russian Arctic, but the Swedes used his maps. He studied myths and legends in order to reveal to people the secrets of the human body, nature and the cosmos.

Mikhail Vasilyevich Lomonosov forever changed the history of Russia and Russian science. It was he who became the first Russian academician, developed the project of Moscow State University, published the book "Russian Grammar", created a night vision device and discovered the atmosphere of Venus. Lomonosov's ideas in physics, chemistry, philology, history and geography were ahead of their time.

The film reveals little-known pages of Lomonosov's life: his service in the Prussian army, the international wanted list, the history of lost scientific papers and a secret map of the Arctic campaign. Actor Mikhail Gorevoy and experts in the fields of history, chemistry, philology, geography, and economics will talk about how the legacy of the scientist continues to influence modernity.
