The surgeon named the reasons for the popularity of male intimate plastic surgery in Russia

In Russia, the number of men seeking plastic surgery, including intimate surgeries, has increased dramatically in recent years. Saro Benjanyan, an operating urologist and andrologist, Candidate of Medical Sciences, head of the Proclinic clinic, told Izvestia about this. According to him, the flow of such patients has increased by about 40% since 2021.

The specialist notes that today men are increasingly considering surgical interventions as a way to improve their quality of life, self-confidence and competitiveness in the profession. Among the most sought-after procedures, he names liposuction, as well as various penile enlargement techniques.

According to his observations, patients between the ages of 30 and 50 most often come for intimate plastic surgery.

"Requests vary from purely aesthetic to functional, related, for example, to the desire to improve sexual function or correct anatomical features," the specialist noted.

At the same time, according to Benjanyan, in most cases we are not talking about strict medical indications, but about psychological reasons — self-doubt and anxiety due to non-compliance with imposed standards. However, there are also patients with objective reasons for intervention, including the effects of injury or congenital abnormalities.

The doctor emphasizes that intimate plastic surgery, like any surgery, is associated with risks. Among the possible complications, he names infections, bleeding and dissatisfaction with the result of the operation.

"Rehabilitation can take from several days to several weeks — it all depends on the amount of intervention. It is extremely important to strictly follow the doctor's recommendations and temporarily limit physical activity," he stressed.
