Megafon has increased the share of SIM cards with the Russian OS
The share of SIM cards with the Russian operating system purchased by Megafon exceeded 50%, the operator's press service said.
They noted that SIM cards with domestic software are not inferior to their foreign counterparts in terms of security and user experience. At the same time, the software is fully compatible with Megafon's existing telecom infrastructure and subscriber identification algorithms.
SIM cards are tested and validated in the company's own laboratory. They are checked according to 10 key criteria, including the correctness of registration on the network, compliance with international standards, as well as the stability of operation on 2G, 3G, 4G and VoLTE networks. The operation of firmware applets that provide additional services for subscribers is also checked. The tests are carried out using different models of smartphones, routers, tablets and smart watches.
"The full testing cycle of SIM cards takes less than six months - this is one of the fastest product launch processes on the market. During this period, the vendor receives the technical requirements, the SIM cards undergo intermediate tests, and the supplier finalizes them based on their results. After completing all the stages, SIM cards are allowed for commercial use," the press service said.
According to Megafon, in addition to SIM cards, the company's laboratory conducts comprehensive testing of subscriber equipment ‑ smartphones, push—button phones, tablets, laptops, routers, modems and smart watches. Megafon's retail network includes only devices that fully meet the operator's requirements, the company stressed.
