MWM has learned about India's interest in licensed production of Su-57 fighter jets

India, as part of a tender for the supply of combat aircraft, expressed interest in the licensed production of Russian fifth-generation SU-57 fighters. This was reported on February 2 by Military Watch Magazine (MWM), citing sources.

"Sources in the United States and India have recently confirmed significant progress in negotiations on licensed production of the Su-57 generation fighter in India, which will allow upgrading more than 220 Generation 4+ Su-30MKI fighters to create new aircraft," the publication says.

It is reported that in 2020, India has also expanded orders for the Russian Su-30MKI and MiG-29. This paved the way for the consideration of a large-scale purchase of the Su-57.
