Lantratova suggested taking child care into account for early retirement
The State Duma has taken the initiative to include parental leave in the preferential length of service for early retirement. This was announced on February 3 by Yana Lantratova, head of the State Duma Committee on the Development of Civil Society, Issues of Public and Religious associations for the Development of civil Society, in a letter to Anton Kotyakov, Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation.
Lantratova suggested that periods of child care should be included in the special experience of teachers, medical workers and other socially significant categories. According to her, current practice leads to infringement of pension rights of women who combine professional activity and motherhood.
"It seems advisable to ensure that parental leave is included in a special preferential length of service <...> without restrictions on the start date of leave," she wrote.
The parliamentarian also drew attention to the gap between labor guarantees and pension legislation.
In addition, according to TASS, she proposed to increase the pension coefficients for child care to 1.5 years, fixing the increased values of the CPI depending on the order of birth of children. According to the MP, these measures will help reduce the number of legal disputes and increase citizens' confidence in the social protection system.
Earlier, on February 1, it was reported that in Russia, as an incentive for the birth of third and subsequent children, it was proposed to introduce "paternal capital" in the amount of 2 million rubles for large families. The initiative involves strengthening the role of the father in the family and additional financial support for the birth of three children. It was also noted that after the birth of the third child, about 40% of mothers stop working, and the main financial burden falls on the father.
