The Investigative Committee of Russia began searching for the body of a child in the Lomonosovsky district of the Leningrad region.

The body of a nine-year-old boy from St. Petersburg is being searched in the Lomonosovsky district of the Leningrad region on the instructions of a man who was previously detained in the Pskov region and confessed to killing a child. This was reported on February 3 in the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

"During the investigation of the criminal case, information was received about the murder of a child. In addition, the man reported on the place in the Lomonosovsky district where he hid the boy's body. <...> Other investigative actions are currently underway aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident, including the discovery of the child's body," the agency said in a statement on the MAX messenger.

According to the Investigative Committee, the investigators also conducted searches at the places of residence of the defendant, examined his car and studied information media containing information important for the investigation.

Earlier, on February 1, it was reported that the search for a nine-year-old boy continued in St. Petersburg for the third day. The police and volunteers were involved, and the investigation checked all versions and studied the recordings from surveillance cameras.

The next day, it became known about the arrest of the alleged abductor, Peter Zh., who confessed to killing the child. The reason for the crime, according to preliminary data, was blackmail. The suspect had previously known the boy.
