In Ukraine, the mobilization of citizens for military service has turned into a manhunt, but Brussels turns a blind eye to it. This was announced on February 2 by the political director of the Hungarian Prime Minister, Balazs Orban.

"The European Union (EU) continues to pour money into Ukraine without any rational grounds, ignoring serious human rights violations and demanding that European citizens pay for it. This policy does not contribute to peace and does not meet the interests of Europe. The time has come to put an end to this war and the pro—military policy of Brussels," he wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

According to him, Ukraine is not ready to join the EU in the medium term. He also recalled that the Hungarian Government supports peaceful efforts to end the conflict.

Earlier it became known on January 14 that the number of men of military age detained on the border between Ukraine and Belarus increased 356 times. Thus, in 2025, 1,424 men of military age were detained by the border services at the border with Belarus, which is four times more than in 2024 (326) and 356 times more than in 2023 (four people).
