The weather forecaster warned about the peak of cold weather in the capital region this week.

The cold weather in the capital region will continue throughout the week, including weekends. This was reported to Izvestia on February 2 by Tatiana Pozdnyakova, a leading specialist at the Meteonosti news agency.

She clarified that the most severe frosts are expected in the middle of the week, when the weather will be influenced by the periphery of the anticyclone.

"On Wednesday, the minimum temperature in Moscow will be -20...-22 degrees. Approximately the same values are expected on Thursday. During the day, the temperature will be in the range of -15...-17 degrees. That is, the air temperature will be below the climatic norm, about 10-12 degrees," the forecaster explained.

Pozdnyakova noted that by the end of the week, the weather pattern will begin to change. Snow is expected on Friday, and conditions in the capital region will be affected by a cyclone over the Black Earth region over the weekend. This will lead to a gradual weakening of the frost. So, the minimum temperature in Moscow during this period is predicted to be in the range of -12...-17 degrees, and daytime — from -6 to -11 degrees, however, the indicators will still remain below the long-term average values.

"The cold weather with varying intensity will continue throughout the week in the capital region," the expert concluded.

On January 30, Alexander Ilyin, a forecaster at the Meteo prognostic center, announced the approach of a cold front with frosts to the capital and its region. In addition, the specialist said that precipitation may occur again in the Moscow region at the beginning of the week from February 2 to February 8.
