The Moldovan hydroelectric Power Plant (MGRES), owned by the Russian company Inter RAO and located in the Transnistrian region, has nothing to do with the blackout in Moldova that happened the day before. This was announced on February 1 at the Russian Embassy in the republic.

"The incident occurred on the territory of Ukraine, at a distance of about 60 km from Transnistria. Presumably, the reason was unfavorable weather conditions," they wrote in the Telegram channel of the diplomatic mission.

It is noted that thanks to the prompt and well-coordinated work of the MGRES staff, it was possible to avoid a complete shutdown of the units, which would have led to catastrophic consequences for the region. The embassy stressed that the station has been operating normally for 24 hours.

On January 31, Chisinau Mayor Ion Ceban announced that power outages had been recorded in Chisinau and some regions of Moldova on Saturday morning. According to him, this situation is recorded in most districts of the capital. According to the information of the state enterprise "Unified Distribution Electric Networks" in the Telegram channel, the accident at the Moldavskaya GRES in Transnistria led to power outages.
