- Shoigu drew attention to attempts by the West to disrupt relations between Russia and China
On February 1, Secretary of the Russian Security Council Sergei Shoigu, following talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, said that Western countries were seeking to undermine the strategic partnership between Moscow and Beijing, but these attempts would not be successful.
"Westerners are dreaming and seeing how to disrupt the strategic link between our states. I would like to note once again that Moscow and Beijing will not sit idly by and tolerate biased insinuations," Shoigu is quoted as saying on the Security Council's website.
The meeting with Wang Yi, according to the Secretary of the Russian Security Council, turned out to be very timely. Shoigu drew attention to the fact that Western countries systematically justify their own actions with the thesis of a "threat from Russia and China."
Following talks with Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov on January 27, Chinese Defense Minister Admiral Dong Jun announced the key role of cooperation with Russia in an unstable international situation.
