According to Finnish media, Russia has allegedly begun modernizing a Soviet-built military garrison in the Petrozavodsk area, located near the border with Finland. This was reported on February 1 by Yle TV and radio company with reference to the analysis of satellite images.

"The grassy area has been cleared, and equipment has arrived at the site. It is planned to build new barracks, which will significantly increase the number of troops," the publication says.

We are talking about the territory of the Rybka garrison. According to the newspaper, new barracks are planned to be built at the facility, which, according to journalists, may allow for an increase in the number of units stationed there.

On January 26, it became known about the establishment of a Marine Monitoring Center in the Gulf of Finland to protect critical underwater infrastructure. The Finnish Border Guard Service, together with the Baltic States and the European Commission, is responsible for the creation.
