In January 2026, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) lost more than 38.5 thousand militants killed or wounded in the area of a special military operation. This became known on February 1 from TASS calculations based on reports from the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

According to the agency, from January 1 to January 9, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost 11,355 people in the zones of operation of Russian groups, from January 10 to January 26 — 8,695 people, from January 17 to January 23 — 8,810 fighters, from January 24 to January 31 — 9,785 fighters. In total, the total losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine amounted to 38,645 people.

It is specified that the Ukrainian Armed Forces suffered the greatest losses in the area of operation of the Center group of forces.
