At a briefing on January 30, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called the European Union's (EU) refusal to import Russian gas a "theater of the absurd."

"It's just a theater of the absurd," Zakharova said, answering a question from Izvestia.

The diplomat stressed that in this case we are talking about a complete disregard for the interests of the countries of the association.
