Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the updated flagship S-Class sedan in the W223 body. The premiere of the model in Stuttgart is timed to coincide with the 140th anniversary of the "Birth of the Car". The company said that the sedan has more than 50% of updated or upgraded parts. It is expected to enter the European and US markets in the second half of 2026.

The restyled Mercedes-Benz S-Class can be recognized by the three-pointed star on the hood, which was illuminated for the first time in the model's history, and the radiator grille with multiple stars increased by 20%. The lighting technology with three—beam lights has also been upgraded - it has become 40% more efficient, and the range of the light beam has increased to 600 m.

In the cabin, there are three screens on the front panel, and the dashboard is installed separately from the rest of the multimedia unit. The sedan has Google Maps-based navigation and a voice assistant with artificial intelligence. Among the unusual features are heated seat belts and ventilation deflectors that can change position automatically. Optionally, an audio system with 4D surround sound and 39 speakers will be available.

The engine range will include a variety of units, including a four-liter V8 with 537 hp (750 Nm), three-liter sixes and plug-in hybrid versions. They are combined with the 4Matic all-wheel drive system. The 585 hp (750 Nm) hybrid will be able to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds and travel about 100 km on electricity alone. The six-liter V12 will also be retained, but it will be available only for armored versions of the S-Class and Maybach modifications.

The S-Class will also be equipped with the E-Active Body Control body stabilization system and the Airmatic smart air suspension, which, for example, is able to store speed bump data on specific road sections using cloud computing and share it with other cars.

Chery is close to concluding a deal with Jaguar Land Rover to manufacture cars in the UK. As clarified on January 29, the deal will allow Chery to take advantage of spare capacity at JLR's manufacturing facilities, which will help save jobs and bring additional profits to JLR after a disastrous 2025.
