When Joe Biden left the US presidency last year, he was elected to this position in 2021 and took with him two special gifts — a set from the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, James Marape, which included a fragment of an A-20 Havoc aircraft and cufflinks from Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. This was reported on January 29 by the Bloomberg news agency, citing a report from the US State Department.

It is noted that the first gift has a special significance for the ex-president and his family — the fact is that his uncle Ambrose Finnegan crashed over the Pacific Ocean in 1944 on an airstrike of the same model, a fragment of which was presented to him as a gift. This item, as emphasized, was accompanied by some other gifts — a poster, a painting, a shirt, a gold badge and a coffee.

"The total cost of all the gifts was $1,254 (95.3 thousand rubles. — Ed.) <... U.S. law generally prohibits federal officials from accepting gifts from foreign governments worth more than $480, but makes an exception for gifts if a refusal could offend or harm diplomatic relations," the article says.

On January 4, the New York Post (NYP) revealed the amount of pension that Biden receives. It was clarified that the allowance paid to the ex-president, according to an analysis by Vice president of the National Taxpayers Fund of the United States Demian Brady, is $417 thousand. This amount, as emphasized in the publication, exceeds his annual salary during his presidency.
