Madonna photographed with Russian artists and their paintings
American singer Madonna visited the residence of artist Tracey Emin on January 29, where she was photographed in a traditional Russian hat with earflaps along with Emin's ward, Russian Olya Austreich.
The pictures posted on Instagram (owned by Meta, recognized as extremist in Russia and banned) show Madonna in a hat with earflaps showing exhibits and paintings, and standing next to Emin's student artists, including Olya Austreich and Elizaveta Zalieva.
"Madonna is a long-time fan of the work of the great artist Tracey Emin. Olya Austreich is currently studying at Tracey Emin's residence in Margate in the UK," says Alexander Blanar, director of the Serene Gallery.
He clarified that the Off Season festival is taking place at the Emin residence, which features a small exhibition of Rooms by Austreich and Zalieva. According to Blanchard, the fact that Madonna liked the work of the Russian artist Olya was quite expected, as she is very talented. The singer wanted to buy back two of Austreich's works, but it was decided to give them to her as a sign of respect.
Italian cartoonist and artist Vauro Senesi told Izvestia on January 22 that propaganda is currently trying to break the deep cultural alliance that exists with Russia. He added that in the current period, real artists are becoming important "bridges of communication," even affecting historical memory.
