The State Duma discussed the development of light industry in Russia
Parliamentary hearings on the development of light industry in the country were held in the State Duma of the Russian Federation on January 29. Ministers, deputies, representatives of the regions and entrepreneurs discussed the problems of the industry and its development prospects.
The share of domestic producers in the domestic market is already 45%, while illegal trade has fallen to 12%. Separately, the participants touched upon the issue of the production of military uniforms for the Russian army.
"There are many problems, but we emphasize that we need to develop our textile industry. And this should be done not only for import substitution purposes. The army should be equipped with its own clothes, uniforms, so that it has its own shoes. These are security issues," stressed State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin.
The chairman of the lower house added that current technologies make it possible to track military uniforms even from space.
Business representatives, in turn, confirmed their readiness for any requests and assured that they were able to provide the armed forces with high-quality uniforms.
"We are able to provide any requirements that the customer determines for us. Not only the design, appearance and durability, which are usually declared, but also special requirements to ensure that there is no detection, for example, through a thermal imager. They are equipped with the most advanced equipment that exists in the world," Taimuraz Bolloev, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the BTK Group of Companies, said in an interview with Izvestia.
Anton Alikhanov, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said that deliveries of military uniforms made only in the Russian Federation will begin this year. At the same time, the use of only fabrics made in Russia will become mandatory starting next year. Russian textile enterprises can meet the needs of the Ministry of Defense right now, and there are enough production volumes in the country.
In December last year, it was reported that Russia had launched mass production of a new camouflage uniform for the military. The new line includes a full range of equipment, from summer sets to winter suits, some of which have flame—retardant properties.
