Wireless cameras will appear on the roads of the Krasnoyarsk Territory for the first time

Wireless speed cameras will be installed on roads in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. The first 50 devices will be installed as early as 2026, the press service of the regional Department of roads reports.

The equipment will be placed on the detours of Krasnoyarsk and Zheleznogorsk, on the Krasnoyarsk–Elite, Krasnoyarsk–Yeniseisk, Krasnoyarsk–Zheleznogorsk and other routes.

"For video cameras to work, you need a high-speed Internet connection, and it is not available on all routes. Therefore, we will install cameras with autonomous information analysis and processing," said Andrey Zhuravlev, head of the regional Department.

As the specialist explained, the devices transmit information about events via the LTE wireless channel directly to the integration platform of the intelligent transport system.

According to the KrasnoyarskMedia news agency, intelligent transport systems have been introduced in the regional capital since 2020. Two years later, regional road workers joined in.

So, for three years, 221 transport detectors, 16 automatic road weather stations and a thermal mower were placed on the roads near Krasnoyarsk. Also, 130 rotary dome cameras, 32 dynamic display boards and variable information signs appeared during this period.

Earlier it was reported that new complexes began to arrive at the departments of the State Traffic Inspectorate, allowing them to identify a traffic violator or detect a wanted vehicle in traffic without leaving an official car. Such equipment is able to recognize reckless drivers even while driving.
