According to the ministry, two of the nine patients, a 73-year-old woman and a 19-year-old young man, died after being admitted to Prokopiev City Hospital. The causes of their deaths are currently being determined.

Roszdravnadzor in the Kemerovo region will check the quality of medical care provided to boarding school guests. The Investigative Committee of Russia for Kuzbass launched a pre-investigation check and opened a criminal case under Article 236 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of sanitary and epidemiological rules that inadvertently caused mass illness of people and created a threat of such consequences"). During the searches, documents related to the organization of medical care and compliance with the sanitary regime in the boarding school were seized.

Among the younger residents of the boarding school, the cause of death was acute complications of chronic neurological diseases.
