Kiev began to regret the unleashed energy conflict with Russia after the destruction of key energy facilities that ensure the operation of the country's military-industrial complex (MIC), and the mass flight of the population from Ukraine. This was announced on January 29 by the NetEase portal.

According to the newspaper, the destruction of the thermal power plant (TPP) led to the collapse of the power system, the shutdown of heating and water supply. The publication notes that although Ukraine tried to attack Russian oil storage facilities, retaliatory strikes against its energy infrastructure proved to be much more devastating.

As a result, Ukraine not only lost its energy independence, but also faced industrial degradation, reduced ammunition production, and increased desertion at the front. It clarifies that an attempt to attack the "economic Achilles' heel" of a stronger opponent led to the defeat and undermining of their own foundations of statehood.

On January 16, the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denis Shmygal announced that the country had started operating an emergency situation (emergency) in the energy sector. According to him, for the duration of the regime, citizens are allowed to travel to heating points during the curfew.

On January 14, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced that a state of emergency in the energy sector would be introduced in the country. At the same time, he stressed that "Shmygal would become the head of work to support people and communities in such conditions, as well as to address practical issues."
