- Reuters reported on U.S. intelligence's doubts about the possibility of cooperating with Rodriguez.
American intelligence has expressed concerns about cooperation with interim Venezuelan President Delcy Rodriguez amid Caracas' reluctance to sever ties with its international allies. This was reported on January 28 by the Reuters news agency, citing four sources.
"US intelligence reports have raised doubts about whether interim Venezuelan President Delcy Rodriguez will cooperate with the administration of [US President Donald] Trump. Trump," the agency writes.
Earlier, American officials publicly stated that they want the interim president to sever relations with close international allies such as Iran, China and Russia, including expelling their diplomats and advisers from Venezuela.
However, Rodriguez has not publicly announced such a move yet. US intelligence reports say it is unclear whether she fully supports the US strategy in her country.
"Washington wants to limit the influence of its opponents in the Western Hemisphere, including in Venezuela, where Trump is seeking to exploit the country's vast oil reserves," the article says.
The day before, Rodriguez said that Caracas intends to resolve existing differences with Washington through diplomacy and political contacts that have already begun to be established. According to her, the work on creating the agenda is currently underway jointly with Trump and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
On January 21, Reuters learned about Rodriguez's plans to visit the United States. She herself promised, if she happens to go to Washington, to do it as befits a Venezuelan woman — with her head held high and the tricolor of her state unfurled.
