- Fraudsters have started creating fake accounts of management companies to deceive Russians
Fraudsters began to create fake accounts of management companies in order to deceive citizens under the pretext of "updating the list of tenants" and "confirming the relevance of information." This was announced on January 28 by Dmitry Dudkov, Chief Financial Fraud Specialist at F6.
"In January 2026, attackers began creating fake accounts on behalf of management companies (CC) to deceive users. The profile of such accounts indicates that it was allegedly created by the head of the Criminal Code, his last name, first name and patronymic are indicated. From a fake account of the Management Company, users are sent messages that the head of the company is "updating the electronic list of tenants" and are asked to confirm the relevance of the information," Dudkov said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
According to the expert, scammers use the FakeBoss scheme, in the first stage of which they send the user a code via SMS message or a link to a Telegram bot under the guise of an official service. By forcing the user to name the code, they create the appearance of hacking the personal account. After that, the scammers move on to the next stages of manipulation, and the ultimate goal is to steal money from the victim.
Dudkov noted that such attacks are targeted, and cybercriminals are carefully preparing for their implementation. A sign of this is that the scammers indicate in the messages the real addresses of users served by a particular management company.
On January 27, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation reported that fraudsters began using a new scheme based on fake unpaid traffic police fines, in which, under the guise of bailiffs, they ask citizens for an access code to the Gosuslugi portal in order to further commit data theft. It is specified that the attacker contacts the potential victim, posing as an employee of the bailiffs. He informs about the existence of an allegedly unpaid traffic police fine, to which substantial penalties have already been applied. To confirm this information, a verification process is initiated through the Gosuslugi portal.
