At the moment, 710 thousand consumers remain without electricity in Kiev. This was announced on January 27 by the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denis Shmygal.
"The power engineers reported. There are currently 710,000 consumers without electricity in Kiev," he wrote on his Telegram channel.
He noted that all necessary assistance has been provided to citizens, and work is currently underway to restore energy supply.
On January 22, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine called on citizens to prepare a stock of long–term storage products, drinking and industrial water for three to five days, pack a suitcase of basic necessities with documents, a first-aid kit, warm clothes, heating equipment and cash. The ministry stressed that the measures are necessary against the background of possible interruptions in heat and energy supply related to the deterioration of the situation in the country's energy sector.
Stanislav Ignatiev, an energy expert at the Ukrainian Institute of the Future, said on January 26 that about 600,000 people had left Kiev, which was in a critical situation amid severe frosts and constant heat and electricity outages.
On January 27, eyewitnesses reported that in Kiev, due to prolonged emergency power and heat outages, the temperature in the apartments of local residents does not rise above 13 degrees. The situation is aggravated by accidents in the heat supply system. According to eyewitnesses, in some areas, the repair of damage is delayed due to a lack of resources from public utilities.
