Hungary is the only obstacle to Ukraine's accession to the European Union (EU). This was announced on January 27 by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sibiga.

"We need to call a spade a spade. Hungary is the only obstacle to Ukraine's membership in the EU," he said in an interview with the Ukrainian edition of European Truth.

According to Sibiga, the Hungarian authorities are conducting anti-Ukrainian rhetoric and blocking the integration of some Hungarians living in Ukraine into the "common European space." He noted that Kiev would respond proportionately to "unfriendly acts," but was not going to respond "to every nonsense."

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on January 27 that the Ukrainian ambassador had been summoned to the country's Foreign Ministry because of Kiev's threats against Budapest. According to him, last week Ukrainian political leaders expressed "extremely insulting and threatening messages" to Hungary and the Hungarian government.

Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjarto announced on January 27 that the Hungarian Foreign Ministry had summoned the Ukrainian ambassador to Budapest to protest against the "rude and shameless" interference of the leader of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, in the upcoming parliamentary elections in the country.
