Over the past 12 hours, 11 mm of precipitation fell in Moscow, which exceeded the previous daily maximum, and the height of the snow cover increased by 11-13 cm. According to Tatiana Pozdnyakova, a leading specialist at the Meteonosti agency, an atmospheric front with a wave structure continues to affect the region, so active snowfalls and temporary pauses will alternate throughout the day. Although the blizzard has stopped, the main problem remains snowdrifts on the roads.
It is reported that the bad weather will continue in the next 24 hours. Heavy snow will remain on Wednesday night and Wednesday afternoon, but locally, not everywhere. Truck drivers were advised to take into account the weather conditions and avoid areas with slopes. The road services of the Moscow region have been put on high alert, and the Ministry of Emergency Situations has warned of prolonged heavy snow, blizzards and icy conditions until January 29.
In addition, the Ministry of Transport said that Moscow airports canceled 17 flights due to heavy snowfall.
