In January 2026, the number of car dealerships in major cities of the Russian Federation reached about 5.4 thousand, which is 2% more than a year earlier. This was reported on January 27 by RBC with reference to the calculations of the 2GIS service. Car dealerships selling both new and used passenger cars were taken into account.
Krasnoyarsk (+16.9%, to 284 salons), Novosibirsk (+12.2%, to 369) and Chelyabinsk (+11.2%, to 277) became the leaders in dynamics. Samara, Voronezh, Yekaterinburg, Volgograd, Rostov-on-Don, Kazan and Nizhny Novgorod also entered the top ten in terms of growth. However, the number of car dealerships in Moscow decreased by 4.9% (to 1,381), and in Krasnodar — by 5.6% (354). According to the service, only 34.2% of all salons in cities with millions are official dealerships.
Analysts noted that the growth in the total number of car dealerships is associated with the expansion of regional markets, especially in Siberia and the Urals. Used car sales sites and showrooms working with Chinese and Korean brands and supplies from abroad are actively developing there.
Earlier, on January 23, FAW Passenger Cars reported that by the end of 2025, almost a third of Bestune dealerships were closed in Russia. If at the beginning of last year the brand had 92 dealers, by the end the number of partners had decreased to 65.
On January 21, Kommersant, citing calculations by Gazprombank Avtolizing and Avtobusinessrevue, reported that by the end of 2025, 643 showrooms of Chinese brands engaged in the sale of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles were closed in Russia. This figure is 1.4 times higher than in 2024. According to him, the top three brands in terms of the number of closed salons were BAIC (56 units), Bestune (54 units) and JAC (44 units) brands.
