Difficult weather conditions remain in Moscow and the region: after a record snowfall last night, heavy snow continues and may bring up to 10 millimeters of precipitation. Tatiana Pozdnyakova, a leading specialist at the Meteonosti agency, told Izvestia about this on January 27.

According to her, over the past 12 hours, 11 mm of precipitation fell in the capital, which exceeded the previous daily maximum, and the height of the snow cover increased by 11-13 cm. The atmospheric front with a wave structure continues to affect the region, so active snowfalls and temporary pauses will alternate during the day. Although the snowstorm has already stopped, the main problem for the city is snowdrifts on the roads, which the utilities are not immediately coping with.

"The bad weather will continue in the next 24 hours. Heavy snow will remain on Wednesday night and Wednesday afternoon, but locally, and not everywhere, as it was before. It is difficult to predict the exact areas where the most precipitation will fall, so the warning about adverse weather conditions remains in force. At the same time, wind gusts will weaken, and a snowstorm is no longer expected," Pozdnyakova said.

After two days, which may become record-breaking in terms of precipitation, the weather situation will begin to improve: atmospheric pressure will rise, and snowfall will disappear, leaving only a light snow in places. However, after the bad weather, frosts will come to the region. By Saturday, the temperature during the day will be stable at -10...-15 degrees, which is 4-5 degrees below the climatic norm.

Earlier, Pozdnyakova reported that this week residents of Moscow and the Moscow region will face a sharp change in the weather: light frosts at the beginning of the period will be replaced by heavy snowfall and a blizzard. According to her, on Tuesday evening, January 27, an active atmospheric front in the designated area will be determined. Unfavorable weather conditions will continue, according to the specialist, until Wednesday, January 28.
