Production of Angara family launch vehicles will be moved from Moscow to Omsk
The production of the Angara family of launch vehicles will be completely transferred from the Khrunichev Center's Moscow site to Omsk. This was announced on January 27 by Dmitry Baranov, Roscosmos Deputy Director General for Rocket Projects, at the plenary session of the 50th Academic Readings on Cosmonautics in memory of S.P. Korolev.
"A program is being created, coordinated with the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Finance, and these missiles will be transferred from the Moscow site to Omsk. This will result in a significant reduction in the entire cost," Interfax quoted him as saying.
He clarified that the transfer has already been partially completed: the light "Angara" and the first two stages of the heavy "Angara" are produced in Omsk. The upper stages of the heavy Angara, head fairings and upper stages are still being produced in Moscow.
According to him, Russia is also developing an upgraded version of the Angara-1.2 light rocket, with the first launch planned after 2035.
Last December, the Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle with the Aist-2T satellites and 50 associated vehicles launched from the Vostochny cosmodrome. It was clarified that the rocket launch took place at 16:18 Moscow time. The Fregat upper stage launched its propulsion system almost immediately after separation.
