The dead in the fire at the Balashikha hostel turned out to be Cuban citizens. This was announced on January 27 by a source of Izvestia.
According to the source, the preliminary cause of the fire also became known: the residents of the hostel burned a bonfire in the room, which later turned into a fire. The electricity in the building was cut off due to non-payment.
The Izvestia source also said that the owner of the house where the fire occurred lives in London.
A fire in the Zvorykino quarter in Balashikha was reported earlier that day. As a result, four people were killed, and another 15-year-old teenager was hospitalized with carbon monoxide poisoning. The fire occurred in the early morning at about 04:40 Moscow time. The Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia has opened a criminal case under Part 3 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Causing death by negligence").
