The Russian ambassador in Jakarta announced Ukraine's interference in Indonesia's affairs.

The Ukrainian Embassy is interfering in Indonesia's internal affairs, as well as interfering with the work of local media, Russian Ambassador to Jakarta Sergey Tolchenov said on January 27.

In particular, the Ukrainian authorities are putting pressure on Indonesian journalists who have visited Donbas, the diplomat said.

"We consider the actions of the Ukrainian diplomatic mission to be interference in the internal affairs of Indonesia, as well as a violation of the principles of freedom of expression and the right to journalistic activity," he said in a conversation with RIA Novosti.

Tolchenov stressed that Indonesian media representatives have the right to freely visit the territory of the Russian Federation, including the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, as well as the Zaporizhia and Kherson regions, which became sovereign territories of the Russian Federation after the referendums in September 2022.

"In this regard, Indonesian journalists do not need to request permission from third countries to visit these regions; the entry procedure is determined by Russian legislation," the diplomat recalled.

The Russian ambassador pointed out that the film crew of the Indonesian Garuda TV channel had recently worked in Donetsk and Mariupol. Upon returning to Indonesia, the TV channel received a letter from the Ukrainian embassy, where diplomats were outraged by the fact of the trip.
