Employees of the territorial recruitment center (TCC, an analog of the military enlistment office in Ukraine) detained Archpriest Oleg Ostafyuk, a cleric of the Chernivtsi—Bukovina diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, at a checkpoint. This was reported on January 27 by the Union of Orthodox Journalists (UOJ).

"The priest, who is the rector of the parish in honor of the Holy Great Martyr George in the village of Nizhni Sinevtsy, as well as the parish in honor of the Exaltation of the Cross in the village of Verkhniye Synevtsy in the Glybok deanery, was stopped at a checkpoint, after which he was taken to the shopping mall," the Telegram channel reported.

The community called on the faithful to strengthen their prayers for the detained archpriest, as well as to continue to pray for another clergyman, Archpriest Fyodor Gnitetsky, who is also in the recruitment center.

Earlier, on November 7, the UOJ reported that employees of the Ukrainian shopping mall in the town of Smela, Cherkasy region, had abducted the rector of a local church of the canonical UOC. It was clarified that the priest was detained during the divine service. After that, he was immediately taken to the military enlistment office.
