An earthquake of magnitude 5.7 was recorded off the coast of the Indonesian island of Java. This was announced on January 27 on the website of the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC).
The seismic event occurred 49 km from the town of Madiun, which is home to about 186 thousand people. The earthquake was centered at a depth of 125 km.
On January 24, an earthquake of magnitude 4.9 occurred in western Turkey. The epicenter of the earthquake was located 62 km southeast of the city of Balikesir, which has a population of more than 238 thousand people.
