- The Russian Defense Ministry has launched a project with declassified materials about the Holocaust
On the occasion of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the Russian Ministry of Defense launched a multimedia project "Ashes of the Holocaust: a tragedy that cannot be forgotten." This was announced on January 27 in the department.
"There are endless lines of people liberated by the Red Army from this death camp. They cry hysterically when soldiers and officers of the Red Army speak to them... they are heading east, away from the camp, as from a terrible ghost," says one of the declassified reports of the political directorate of the 1st Ukrainian Front dated January 29, 1945.
The Ministry of Defense noted that the publication of declassified documents is aimed at preserving historical truth, countering attempts to distort or deny the Holocaust and other Nazi crimes.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on December 2 that the Polish authorities, trying to benefit from the memory of the victims of the Nazis, are no different from those who arrange auctions with Holocaust relics. In her Telegram channel, the diplomat recalled a recent auction in Germany, where personal belongings of Holocaust victims were on display.
