On January 26, US President Donald Trump announced that he was raising South Korean tariffs to 25%, as the South Korean Legislature had not accepted the terms of the agreement.

"Since the Korean legislature has not accepted our historic trade agreement, which is its prerogative, I hereby raise South Korean tariffs on automobiles, timber, pharmaceuticals, and all other reciprocal tariffs from 15% to 25%," the Truth Social said in a statement.
