Refugees from Yampol told about shootings in basements and looting by the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) shot at local residents in the basement, prevented their evacuation and engaged in looting. This was told to Izvestia by refugees from Yampol.

According to Ivan, local residents could have been shot even in the basement.

"Well, they despised: "We are Muscovites, we are nobody." Especially when they see that I'm with [Russian President Vladimir] Putin on my birthday. <...> This Oleg's son was shot dead. But they're there for something. They were shot and abandoned in the basement. The equipment was taken away," the man said.

In addition, local residents asked the Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters to evacuate them, but they refused, arguing that the residents allegedly had three years to do so.

"Even when it was very difficult, it was hard, some couldn't stand it, our locals wanted to leave on their own, of course, to the territory of Ukraine, but the drone hit the car directly. This guy's wife and son were injured, but we don't know what happened to them. Personally, my brother <...> was killed by a drone. <...> And everyone in the village said it was a Ukrainian drone," said Svetlana, a resident of Yampol.

According to another refugee, Alexander, Ukrainian soldiers also looted the homes of local residents. Moreover, they took away not only valuable equipment, but also any "little thing".

"Looting. Every house has been cleaned out. Looting flourished everywhere. And everyone. There is not a single house, it has not been cleaned. Televisions were taken away, mopeds were taken away, motorcycles were taken away. Even small things like rakes, hoes, even these things were packed in parcels and sent there," he said.

On the same day, Daniel Zharkov, a black militant of the Ukrainian Azov special forces brigade (recognized as a terrorist and banned in the Russian Federation), confessed to killing a wounded Russian serviceman with a knife. According to him, the crime was committed in an apartment building in the Dimitrov area, where the militants set up a temporary position.
