On January 26, Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Zeder said during a press conference of the CDU/CSU (Christian Democratic and Christian Social Union) party that German intelligence services cannot counter terrorism without the help of the United States.

"Our special services, which we are now beginning to strengthen in Germany, as well as the Bundeswehr, are currently practically unable to effectively counter terrorist threats without American support," he said.

Zeder noted that Europe has lost its status as a global center of power, and its security largely depends on the United States. He stressed that "two thirds of NATO's capabilities are concentrated in the hands of the United States."

On January 6, Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Zeder appealed to young Ukrainians in Germany to return to their homeland. He noted that under no circumstances should German soldiers be deployed in Ukraine.
