The Russian Ministry of Health has approved a new procedure for providing medical care in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology. As Vladimir Klimov, the chief freelance obstetrics specialist at the Ministry of Health, noted in an interview with Izvestia on January 26, the changes are aimed at improving the quality and safety of care for pregnant women, women in labor and maternity hospitals.

The document clearly defines the timing and scope of consultations for pregnant women by related specialists — a general practitioner, ophthalmologist, dentist, and others. These requirements comply with the clinical recommendations of the Russian Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists "Normal Pregnancy" and are focused on early detection of pathologies significant for a favorable course of pregnancy, conducting a full-fledged examination and, if necessary, developing treatment tactics.

All consultations of related specialists are distributed by trimester, while the maximum amount of examinations is provided at the stage of registration for pregnancy. According to experts, this will make it possible to diagnose as quickly as possible, predict possible complications and prescribe preventive therapy, increasing the safety and quality of pregnancy management.

On November 24, Maria Bakhmetyeva, an obstetrician-gynecologist, gynecologist-endocrinologist, and a leading specialist in the Semeynaya clinic network, told Izvestia that it is necessary to start preparing for pregnancy 3-6 months before planning it. In addition, you need to take general clinical blood tests: general and biochemical.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
